Full description
Enjoy a 8-hour scenic tour to the wilder landscape of southwest Mauritius, stopping at stunning sights of the 7-Colored Earths at Chamarel, and the new Macondé Bridge.

Take a winding drive to the southwest corner of Mauritius, stopping at the Macondé Bridge for panoramic views across the Baie Du Cap River. Continue to Chamarel Village to admire the 90-meter high Chamarel Waterfall and curious 7-Coloured Earth, a natural phenomenon caused when basaltic lava converts the clay mineral into vibrant shades of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow.

Visit La Rhumerie de Chamarel to learn about the various stages involved in making the local rum, before tasting the end product! A delicious gourmet lunch will then be served in a local restaurant. Next, make a short drive to the Black River Gorges, home to much of the island’s endemic flora and fauna.

You will then head to the sacred lake of Grand Bassin, the most important place of worship for Mauritian Hindus. Stop at the volcanic crater of Trou Aux Cerfs, where you can enjoy a panoramic view across almost the entire island.

End the tour with a stop at the ship model factory in Curepipe where their craftsmen are adept in the art of miniaturisation and the techniques of replica work.

The tour was basically very good. The guide (Jason) has a lot to tell about the country and people, even things that you would not otherwise experience otherwise. The biggest shortcoming of the tour was in my view, the little time that one had at the individual stations. As a rule, it went to max. 15 minutes further. So you could quickly take a few photos, but to enjoy the sometimes really beautiful landscape was unfortunately little time. The tour is therefore well suited to get a quick overview of the hot spots in the southwest of Mauritius.

Nice tour with excellent guide - many places in one day

Nice tour with excellent guide - many beautiful places in one day with lots of phot spots. Our guide was very informative and explained lots of background infos about the country. However, the tour is also a bit too long for my taste, lots of hop/on of the bus during the day, and at the end we felt a bit tired. Overall a very good experience.

Iris and Ajad arrived on time at our hotel. She is a lovely smiley, happy lady who is polite and helpful. She is very informative about her country and you can see she has a passion and energy what what she does. . We really enjoyed our visit around the South West and would recommend pre-booking to anyone.
