What people are saying about Birch Aquarium
Staff are cooperative, friendly and attentive to the safety of all members. It was our first time kayaking and we enjoyed it so much. Although we went in the water about 30 min late, so we spent only about 60 min kayaking and it’d been much better if it was the 90 mins as described.
You kayak out out to the meeting point where you get a rundown from your guide. You kayak over Leopard Shark City where you see tons of them, you see some local marine life including falcons and sea lions. You finish the tour with a short trip into Emerald Cave.
It was fun, but you only get a minute in the cave. You have to take turns and only one boat goes in at a time. Problem is there’s other guided groups there and snorkelers all trying to go in the one cave. I wish I would’ve just rented a kayak and gone on my own.
Carter was very entertaining and helpful as a tour guide. He was informed on a wide range of topics related to the La Jolla ocean preserve, from its ecology and geology to its history and politics.
Casey was an amazing tour guide he was very knowledgeable about the history of the sea cave and the area. He really was helpful in instruction and was really engaging.
