Full description
After initial successes, the Bernese troops were defeated in March 1798 in the Battle of Grauholz and the city of Bern capitulated. As a result, the 12,000 inhabitants of the city had to take in and feed the approximately 30,000 men of the French occupiers privately.

One of these French "guests" was Jean Roche Coignet. Learn exciting, amazing and mysterious things in a fun way.
