Full description
Berlin is not a Bauhaus district. You have to consider the city as a laboratory for life and work since 1900 in order to understand the effects of Bauhaus ideas before and after their existence as a school from 1919 to 1933. As you explore the city comfortably by bus, you’re invited by the Bauhaus Archive / Museum of Design to encounter the few surviving historical examples of the Bauhaus family in Berlin.

On the outskirts of the city, you’ll find many models from the 1920s; the single-family house in the countryside and mass housing for workers. See teaching, leisure, and industrial buildings in Moabit or Wedding from around 1910, followed by the reconstruction of Berlin since the 1950s, an opportunity to follow the traces of socialist and democratic urban planning that were shaped by the Bauhaus.
