Planning Your Visit

Is it worth it?

Although the Barcelona Card offers discounts on a variety of attractions, the free admissions it offers are mostly limited to museums. If you plan on immersing yourself in art and history, then it could save you loads. If not, check out its discounts on everything from tours to tastings to flamenco shows, and do the math. It works as a travelcard across all public transport networks too, but the Hola BCN card might be more suitable for your visit.

What is a Hola BCN card?

If you're planning on seeing a lot of Barcelona but staying off the beaten track, then consider buying a Hola BCN card instead. For a one-off fee, you'll receive unlimited travel across all metro lines, buses, trams, and suburban trains, without paying for attractions you don't plan to visit!

What people are saying about Barcelona

Amazing!! Absolutely made our short trip a maximum experience!!

We were able to get our voucher printed at the Sant train station Information desk where they also then gave us our passports and got us on our way. We didn’t see that as a possibility in the information we were emailed, so it felt like a lucky find. Made things very easy. We only were able to utilize two days, as that was the duration of our stay (actually, just 1-1/2 days). But, even at that, it more than easily paid for itself. We saw several museums (Picasso, Dissemy, Míro, etc.) and sights (Parc Guell, Sagrada Família, etc.) and were able to traverse the entire city quickly and easily via the included bus and metro.

it was fine but confusing directions for where to redeem

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see why purchasing this ahead of time was necessary, as I saw that I could buy this at any kiosk in the metro station. It is also not convenient to have to go to one of 5 specific metro stations to redeem the mobile voucher ahead of time. Once at said metro station, the instructions just said redeem the mobile voucher for the actual ticket "next to the bus stand". Apparently meant a bus stop, not the bus ticket counter in the metro station, which is where I went first. Still giving 5 stars.

The Hola cards were very convenient, however I would buy upon arrival.

The cards were convenient and easy to use...but upon arrival, we were so focused on getting through customs I forgot to pick them up at the airport. So once I got to my lodging I had to find where I could pick them up. So had to buy a card at a metro to get to Plaza Juame to pick them up...when I could have just as easily bought at any kiosk in any metro when I arrived.

Great value for getting around Barcelona

We bought online and redeemed at the airport then used the metro to travel into the city. We got fantastic use from our 4 day pass mostly metro which is excellent! We really should have got a 5 day pass though as our pass expired on our last morning and our flight wasn’t until late. So we just used the Aerobus back to the airport for 4 euros each.

Really useful - totally worth the money.

The Barcelona card is really useful for people who want to visit many museums and attractions, and do not have a car. Besides the gratuities and discounts at museums, having 120h to travel by any public transportation mean is really comfortable and confident in very handy for a tourist.
