Planning Your Visit

Is it worth it?

Although the Barcelona Card offers discounts on a variety of attractions, the free admissions it offers are mostly limited to museums. If you plan on immersing yourself in art and history, then it could save you loads. If not, check out its discounts on everything from tours to tastings to flamenco shows, and do the math. It works as a travelcard across all public transport networks too, but the Hola BCN card might be more suitable for your visit.

What is a Hola BCN card?

If you're planning on seeing a lot of Barcelona but staying off the beaten track, then consider buying a Hola BCN card instead. For a one-off fee, you'll receive unlimited travel across all metro lines, buses, trams, and suburban trains, without paying for attractions you don't plan to visit!

What people are saying about Barcelona

We really used the Hola BCN tickets a lot on the trains mainly, but on buses, too. The only two drawbacks were that if you used them on the wrong side of the platform by mistake, you couldn't use them again, when switching to the correct side. The other drawback is that you have to keep them dry. We were in Barcelona in really hot and sticky weather and my grandson's card became useless from sweat.

Perfect for buying your way to see Barcelona!

Never used the buses but the metro was so easy to use with this ticket. Just print your tickets and exchange it for your travel card at tourist information in arrivals Hall at T1.

Perfect solution for your Barca traveling

Metro is going every 3-5 minutes. Connection between lines are fast. Almost everywhere is a lift if you have stroller. I Can recommend that. hola!!!!!:)

The easiest and quickest way to get around Barcelona

Strongly recommend visitors to Barcelona getting these ‘travelcards’ either before they go or when they arrive - not sure what the cost difference is in buying them in advance. I bought 3-day passes for me and my family and they were really useful in getting around by metro and bus. Just a warning to metro users, be careful and keep your bags close to you - I had a backpack on and when speaking to an assistant at one of the metro stations I was unaware of 3 dodgy people sneaking up behind me and trying to get into the small, front zipped-up pocket of my bag. Luckily there was nothing of value and they left what was in there alone, but it made me more vigilant afterwards. Don’t let that put you off though, these tickets are hugely beneficial if you want to make the most of your trip!
