Full description
Enjoy a guided tour of the House of Convalescence of the old Hospital of the Holy Cross, one of the last Renaissance buildings made in Barcelona before the irruption of the baroque. Find out about its construction in the 17th century, and discover where patients were able to finish their recovery.

Admire the ceramic decoration of the House of Convalescence, one of the most remarkable collections of all Catalan ceramics, especially Llorenç Passoles' work on the ceiling of the main hall. Then, marvel at the precious painting of the chapel of Saint Paul by Josep Bal, a well-preserved masterpiece considered to be the Catalan Sistine Chapel.

Next, see the sculpture of Saint Paul that protects the cloister and crowns the central water well that provided water to the entire house. Finally, learn about the history of medicine in Barcelona by entering the Institute of Catalan Studies, an institution dedicated to the dissemination and research of Catalan culture and sciences located in the House of Convalescence since 1931.
