What people are saying about Ban Na Kwang Railway Station
Well run tour. Lucky, our guide was really nice. The train market is awesome and one of the most authentic things we did in Thai. And we got to ride the train straight trough it. Floating market was an interesting experience and a must do for first comers in BBK, but, opposite to train market, it's touristic and nothing authentic - only overpriced souvenirs. I liked everything about the tour, except that we were kinda forced to take the boat ride inside the market for extra 150 bat/p. I would have preferred to just walk on the docs, the ride was nothing special and really annoying how vendors try to coerce you into buying stuff. Other than this - the tour was perfect and had a great schedule.
We were told many times that the Damnoen Floating Market was “made for tourists” and was “not the real thing”. But as we found out that is great news!!! Just be aware of the shops on the non-floating part! You HAVE to do the boat ride in the market (THB 150/ person)! The floating part is very different from everything you have seen, it’s awesome. The train market is cool, but not something out of this world. If you miss the train time the market itself is sucky so there’s not much to see! The guide was great, very polite and professional.
Great trip overall, no problem with organisation except for delay in departure (approx. 30 minutes). Maeklong train market is great experience and it's nicely organized - you first arrive by the famous train itself and then you see it leaving. Damnoen Floating Market is a pure tourist trap - no special products, everything overpriced though. When you're aware, it's still good to see it as an experience.
The guide, Sara, was awsome ! She was kind, take care of everybody. A very good guide above expectation. The train market was very impressive, a good experiance and good products ( local people were there too ). But the floating market ..... Everything is made in china... Thirty minutes on the boat it’s lîe smoking three packets of cigarettes... I really recommand the forst part but not the second.
I thought that this would be a sort of tourist trap, but both the train market and the floating market were quite interesting and worth the trip. A little touristy, but less than expected. The guide was very friendly and handled the schedule quite well. He showed up at the hotel on time and we stuck to the tour schedule. All in all a good experience, and well managed.
