Full description
Following pick-up from your hotel, journey to the village of Tulamben on the north-east coast of Bali, best known for its black beach covered with smooth, fist-size rocks. Upon arrival, head to Tulamben Bay to take part in a wreck dive and get close to the World War II cargo ship, the USAT Liberty.

Located just 30 meters from the beach, the wreck measures an impressive 120 meters on a steeply sloping sandy bottom, with its top just 3 meters below the water surface. Sunk by torpedoes on January 11, 1942, the USAT Liberty was carrying rubber and railroad parts for war service across the Lombok Strait. The damage was critical, but 2 destroyers hitched her up and tried to tow her to the port at Singaraja.

She was taking too much water, so the crew decided to run her up on the beach at Tulamben. The volcanic explosion of Gunung Agung in 1963 rolled her off the beach to the present location, breaking her in pieces along the way. Now completely covered with corals and home to hundreds of species of fish, the wreck is submerged to a maximum depth of 29 meters.

Considered one of the best beach entry dive sites in Bali, the wreck of the USAT Liberty is just for starters! A 15-minute journey further east takes you to the Alamanda Reef and Batu Kelebit Reef. Travel by car 10 minutes west from Tulamben and you reach the village of Kubu, where access to the pristine Kubu Reef is easy. Night diving is especially popular, with an average visibility of 15 to 20 meters and water temperatures around 28 to 29 degrees Celsius.

Join this diving adventure for a fantastic day in a unique area and get up close to the magnificent marine life along the way! Please note, this tour is only available to certified divers.

Im from Australia , so was very impressed with there grasp of the Aussie language. They even got my dad jokes. I didn’t have my Padi dive ticket with me , but no problem as they could look it up. Nothing was too difficult for them or me. I hadn’t dived for years , so we ran through the underwater hand signals as a refresher. Dive spot was excellent & amazing. I was very impressed indeed, Good visibility & so much to see , including a wide variety of fish & corals. The best dive I’ve ever had. Staff friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem , not pushy at all , very relaxed, letting me dive at my own pace , which was quite slow, as there was so much to see. My dive instructor, took about 100 photos of me in and around the sunken ship & of the beautiful scenery. Would highly recommend these crew , & dive spot.

Top experience

Diving together with my girlfriend. Both have our certification. Still a good diving plan was made, the hand gestures fully explained etc. safety is really paramount. Seen many fish, swam through the ship itself. Was a really nice experience it would do again next time I am in Bali again. I recommend it!

Great Diving Experience

I had e really nice diving trip to Tulamben. I got picked up at 7:30 in the morning at my Homestay in Sanur. After collecting our equipment at the Dive Center we headed to Tulamben Bay, which took about 2 1/2 hours. As I was the only costumer who wanted to go there I was all alone with the Dive Instructor. We made two dives to the shipwreck, which was a sensational experience and, as I had some oxygen left, went a bit around the bay. Loads of beautiful fish and even a huge moray there. Between the two dives I had an excellent meal at the restaurant right at the dive site. After a long drive back to Sanur I got dropped off at my Homestay. Perfect Tour - Great Guide - Safe Driver. Would definitely recommend.
