Overview

One of New Zealand's premier tourist destinations, the Bay of Islands offers white sand beaches, striking coastline, marine wildlife and also significant sites for New Zealand's cultural heritage. On this 2-day tour, you can enjoy more of the Northland including visits to areas of beauty and history. Also enjoy a 1-night hotel stay in Paihia and a 3-hour boat cruise to Cape Brett.

Day 1: Auckland - Paihia - Russell Township - Paihia

Climb aboard your deluxe air-conditioned coach in central Auckland and wave goodbye to the city for two days as you travel north into rural New Zealand. Watch as rolling hills give way to subtropical bush and listen to informative commentary from your driver en route to Waitangi. Upon arrival in Waitangi, enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and discover why the area is so significant to New Zealand history before your journey continues to Paihia.

Take a short ferry ride from Paihia to Russell and prepare to explore the quaint and charming township via a one-hour guided coach tour. See Christ Church, the oldest church in New Zealand famed for the bullet-holes in its walls, and visit the historic Pompallier House, home to Bishop Pompallier’s Catholic Mission. You’ll even get the opportunity to see the country’s oldest pub. Upon arrival back in Paihia, you’ll be shown to your accommodation for the night.

Day 2: Paihia - Cape Brett Cruise - Auckland

Wake up and smell the sea air. Board your deluxe catamaran, purpose built for dolphin viewing, at Paihia Wharf and glide out into the sheltered waters past some 144 islands that make up the Bay of Islands. As you approach the Cape Brett Peninsula, see the famed Hole in the Rock at Motukokako Island and marvel as your skipper expertly guides your boat through the tight space (weather and ocean conditions permitting) before heading back into the sheltered waters of the bay.

Glimpse secluded islands and pristine beaches, keeping watch for dolphins and whales who frequent the subtropical waters, while listening to informative commentary from your expert crew. The perfect way to escape the city and experience some of the best things to do in North Island New Zealand.
