Full description
Your guide will meet you in Port Puerto Quetzal, from where you will be taken on a 2-hour transfer to Antigua. Whilst on the road you will pass by small villages and sugar cane plantations, and will also learn a bit more about Guatemala.

Once in Antigua you'll visit the Central Plaza where you'll discover locals living their daily lives and selling hand-made products. There you can learn about the 4 ruling powers of Antigua, as well as its history as the capital of Central America. Later, visit the cathedral, which was destroyed several times due to earthquakes.

After learning a bit about local religion you will visit an original jade factory and store to learn about this sacred Mayan stone. You'll also be able to purchase jade accessories at local prices. The tour later continues to a convent where nuns lived for approximately 20 years. There you will be impressed by the beauty of the ruins, and can visit a decrepit temple which still holds Catholic masses. If there is enough time at the conclusion of your tour, you may have lunch at a restaurant or enjoy a snack at a coffee shop at your own expense.
