What people are saying about Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a-mazing but buy a tram pass

Amsterdam is a great city and a lot of fun but, I strongly suggest buying a tram ticket. The streets are maze like and it's easy to get confused, so expect to get lost (it can be fun) and buy a tram ticket so that you can hop on the tram to get you back to where you want to be. However, be aware that you need need to redeem your tram voucher bought here, for a tram card, the voucher will not scan (and my app mobile app did not work). The voucher MUST be redeemed at the CENTRAL station office located just beyond the tram boarding area, at the visitors center. You will get a tram card, (not plastic, so don't fold it). TIPS : Remember to tap in and out when boarding and disembarking, or the toll will accumulate. Trams stop working at midnight. Not all lines go in the direction you want, they are color coded -per city section & the last stop is listed on the tram(direction). Blue is for the city center and Museums area -Stick to your color, unless your adventurous. ENJOY!

Good tram service, not so good desk service

I booked tickets for 3 days and enjoyed the tram rides every day. Each stop is clearly marked and everything was on time. Many trans do not show their number on the sides so people sometimes had to run to the front to hava e look if it was the one they wanted. The GBV office had a queueing system - take a ticket and wait your turn, but it was slow, and no maps provided to help users find their way. Had to rely on google maps.

Great service for the value, we took 2 card for 7 days, and enjoyed it

Really easy, you get the voucher via mobile and e-mail, you go to a red van near outside the airport, and they give you physical card. Then it's just a matter to remember to check in and out, every time you use bus/metro/tram/ferry, and careful to choose only GVB means of transport. The others you have to pay separately. Google maps is up to date, and all lines respect the schedule.
