Full description
Explore the Dutch countryside in a comfortable car on a full-day guided tour from Amsterdam.

You’ll visit Zaanse Schans and experience first hand the traditional Dutch way of making cheese and wooden shoes. You’ll have the opportunity to enter the windmills and see how these products were made 150-200 years ago.

See a diamond shop and learn how windmills were once used in the production of dyes and in the timber and oil industries. Continue on to Monnickendam, a picturesque fishing and harbor village situated on the coast of the IJsselmeer.

Alternatively, enjoy the picturesque village of Edam, home to the cheese of its namesake. Take a stroll through the cozy historic center, and walk across the old drawbridges. See the lock that saves the town from flooding!

Next, your journey takes you to Volendam. Stroll among the colorful houses, enjoy the lively boulevard and all the little restaurants, coffee bars, and shops. After Volendam, enjoy a 20-minute drive to the Marken Island. Stroll around and explore its quaint streets. In the summer you may even take a 30-minute boat ride to this Island from Volendam.

During the day you’ll have some time to relax and sample some typical, delicious Dutch food like pancakes and herring.

One of the best tours and guides we have ever had!

Our knowledgeable and personable guide Steve was very attuned to making the day what we wanted. His extensive knowledge of the area and its history, and his excellent command of English, made listening to his comments and his sharing of the culture of his country fascinating. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR AND THIS GUIDE.

Steve was an excellent guide! We learned a lot about The Netherlands and the places we visited. He customized the trip to suit our needs/taste. For example, he saw that my niece is found of cows so he took us to the cheese farm that also had cows. In Volendam, we had lunch at a lake-side restaurant more frequented by locals than tourists. A truly one-of-a-kind experience! Despite the heat (no thanks to the heat wave) we had fun. I highly recommend it.

Our guide Stephan Tulp made our day; the tour was outstanding!!!

Stephan picked us up at our hotel and off we went on a very enjoyable and informative ride into the countryside. This tour was perfect so we could see more - countryside vs city. From the fishing villages to the magnificent wind mills to the boat ride - all was delightful. We did not feel rushed - actually very relaxing.
