Full description
Take a 9-hour tour of the Dutch countryside and the city of Amsterdam on a combination full-day excursion. Departing from a central location in Amsterdam, you will first start of your city sightseeing tour of Amsterdam. An expert guide will show you how Amsterdam can claim the largest historical city center in Europe, and take you to admire the city’s legendary canals. Travel along the Dam, the central square of Amsterdam, and site of the Royal Palace and the Netherlands National Monument. View the famous skinny bridge of the Magere Brug.

Continue to the Albert Cuyp Market, and see beautiful houses along the canals. Finally, you will go to a windmill on the Amstel River, before visiting a diamond factory, where you will see how diamonds are traditionally polished.

Now, head for the countryside of Holland. View famous windmills, fishing villages and traditional Dutch costumes.

On this part of the tour you will visit a wooden shoemaker, where you will get a demonstration of how a wooden block is changed into a wooden shoe in a matter of minutes. Now walk through the quaint island community of Marken, to the harbor. On the way you can spot traditional Dutch costumes, instantly recognizable from tourist postcards and posters.

Your group will also get to visit the Cheese Factory Volendam, where the friendly staff will tell you everything about cheese. Of course, you'll also get to enjoy some yummy tasters! After the Cheese Factory, enjoy some free time for strolling around, or have lunch in one of the many fish restaurants.

Besides Volendam, the windmills of the Zaanse Schans are a highlight of the tour. In this historical village, windmills are beautifully restored and completely functional. The historical wooden warehouses complete the picture. At the end, your guide will bring you back to the Central Station of Amsterdam.

The tour also includes a 1-hour canal cruise ticket to use in Amsterdam at any time during your stay.

Beauty at its best!

The tour we attended was phenomenal and very well paced. We would have loved more time at each of the places to absorb the picturesque scenes. We unfortunately missed the first part of this tour but were quickly replaced to another tour in time for us to come back and catch the secomd half of the tour. Overall we had a rather enjoyable experience :)

Beautiful cities not so friendly tour guides

The cities and presentation at each site were very informative (especially the clog maker in Marken). We definitely recommend going! On a separate note, My wife and I understand that the tour runs on a tight schedule but we felt like we were being lectured about punctuality at each stop. Please note, they WILL leave you if you're not on time. During our tour, this poor woman wasnt at the meeting point in time and our bus took off without her. When some of us saw her running on the side of the road trying to catch us we yelled at the driver to stop. She ended up falling and injuring her face and hands. At the end of the day we understand that the tour runs on a tight schedule but showing a little more remorse for the injured woman would've been nice. We're all on vacation and we all just want to have a good time and see your beautiful country.
