Guide was very nice but not very informative - keep asking us if we had questions. He should have had a plan in place and telling us about where we were going and about Amsterdam, etc. Cheese place quick and nice however it is a place they stop so you will spend money. The windmill village had this same type of cheese demonstration. Not enough time in the windmills to visit them all and we did not even get to see the wooden shoe maker because our guide asked us to wait until the end and then 3 buses showed up and he said you can wait but it will be long wait now and suggested we not. When we first arrived at the village there was no one at the wooden shoe demo and no reason for us to have missed it. Keukenhof was wonderful and we did have enough time there.
Very easy to book and find the space where to get the tickets to the bus. Keukenhof was just very very busy with tourists (peak season for tulips so understandable). However we were stuck in traffic on the way there and for the way back to Amsterdam, we were supposed to have a reserved seat at 3pm and some people apparently did not get their bus 2h before so there was definitely an issue in organisation/schedule/timing for the transport.
Approaching Keukenhof one felt a little let down. ( No flowers - But the weather plays a big role in the timing- An early hot (warm) spring ) . Once inside the Gardeners MAGIC starts playing their role. Magnificent displays , replaced fairly often, keeps the visitors enthralled. The diversity is a major factor and around every corner something new and exciting is presented. For such a busy place even the food and catering is vey good.
The only difficulty was we didn't know where to catch the bus back to Amsterdam - but eventually an official showed us (so the guide could show the meeting point for the return. The return video wasn't shown - we thought that might be interesting to have that on the return journey. Apart from these small issues the experience was fantastic.
We got to the transport pick up at 10 am and we're told to go to the other side to check in, then waited nearly an hour outside in a really windy and cold queue. Were given a seat on bus and finally left at 11.20. Journey was fine and the gardens were beautiful, highly recommend a visit, but transport organisation was chaotic.
