What people are saying about Akaroa
Rob was the perfect Tour Guide for this wonderful excursion. His knowledge was spot on and his pride in New Zealand shone through. He was always on hand to answers questions and was an excellent driver along these high and narrow roads. He gave us adequate free time and made sure we were all safe and happy. His personality was very likeable and he seemed to enjoy our company too, which was nice. We were picked up and dropped of well within the time frame, which was reassuring as we had to take tenders into account. Could not fault Rob in any way and would recommend this excursion 100%.
We had a wonderful tour with Jake. He gave clear and thorough instructions at the beginning and made sure we all understood. He helped us all individually get situated properly in the kayak. On the tour Jake talked about birds, sea life and geology of the area as he pointed out examples. It was all quite interesting and easy to follow. We patiently followed some dolphin activity and was rewarded with one popping up between our kayaks. Jake kept a close eye on everyone to make sure we were safe and having a good time. We recommend this tour and also recommend Jake as a guide.
These people are the most dedicated to wildlife that we have met. Their knowledge enguins is first class and at the end of the two hour trip we were still at the bay and rescued a penguin that had come ashore and was in serious trouble that would have died but for their intervention. They then took it to the vet in Christchurch. We had a great 2 hours ( nearly 4 ! ) and recommend everyone to go and suport them.
Scotty, our guide, was knowledgeable, fun, witty and helpful. He used his time with us to inform and entertain us, as well as prepare us to maximize our enjoyment at each stop. His knowledge of local history and geography was exceptional and he was disbursed this information with confidence and wit. He read his audience well and tailored his repartee accordingly.
Super boat took us out around the harbour introducing us to a few of the Hector dolphins and many of the seabirds. Then we went out further to sea the caves and geological formations in the cliffs and see the fur seals with their young. Loads of good photo opportunities and a very friendly crew.
