LARC! Paradise Tour: Beach, Lunch and Sandboarding

3. LARC! Paradise Tour: Beach, Lunch and Sandboarding

Paradise Tour starts with a journey along the edge of Eurimbula National Park, over vast sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters of four tidal creeks. Our crew relay the history of the Town of 1770 and let out a few clues of what is to come at Bustard Head. The first stop is our hidden shaded picnic spot at the edge of Jenny Lind Creek, for morning tea. The scenic 4wd journey up Bustard Headland then guarantees to be the best aerial view in the world from a boat and drops you at the footsteps of the historical Bustard Head Lightstation aka ’the Lighthouse of Tragedy’. A volunteer light-keeper will guide you through the light-keepers cottage that has been transformed into a museum and is brimming with priceless artefacts, maritime treasures and enough mysteries to sink a ship (literally). Our skipper will take you up the spiralling stairs to the balcony of the lighthouse tower, sharing a magnificent unmarred 360° view and then down a winding path to say hello to past occupants at the cemetery – many of which had terrible fates. Once you’ve explored the skeletons in the stations closet it’s back down the headland for a healthy lunch prepared by our friends at 1770 Marina Café. Accompanied by our secret recipe freshly brewed Billy tea. There is an optional opportunity to explore a quick forest walk before boarding again to cross the incredible Jenny Lind Creek. Your destination – the towering dunes of Middle Island. The only place where it’s completely fine to push your friends and family down a 35metre hill (on a boogie board of course) and call it sandboarding. Exhausted from the calf muscle workout, it’s time for a refreshing dip. Then back on board ready for the return journey. Your day is topped off with wildlife sightings and light-hearted local stories while the pastel colours of the lowering sun signal the end of another day in Paradise.

Our day from time of departure to the return trip home was informative, relaxed and well organised. My 16 year old daughter and I had the most wonderful day, with the highlight of our trip being when we found ourselves swimming in the presence of a majestic sea turtle amidst the vast beauty of a multitude of tropical fish. This day trip and the company came highly recommended by a friend and I am so grateful to them for sharing. We plan on returning as soon as possible and will participate in all three activities. The island walk and glass bottom boat were just as wonderful, however, the snorkelling definitely beheld an essence of wonder and awe that was magical. From start to finish my daughter was engaged and a willing, active participant. She is not easily won, but this day, without an absolute doubt. The staff were friendly, approachable and professional. They were ready to assist with any query and took an active approach in their roles, where their passion was evident

It was a wonderful day, very informative and the staff were amazing. I really enjoyed the walk through the island and the wildlife. The staff really looked after the people who were sea sick with kindness and care. I recommend sea sickness tablets. Although not proficient in snorkeling I did very well and loved it, water was truly amazing.

I had a fantastic day accept the weather conditions at sea when we sailing to Lady Musgrave. But that is just mother nature. Lovely crew and the food was even good! It was exactly the way what i did expected!!
