  • Enjoy an excursion through the rolling hills and lush scenery of Akaroa and the Banks Peninsula
  • Explore at the pictureesque botanical gardens
  • Visit the sights of the city on a tour through Christchurch
Full description
The tour departs from the port of Akaroa and travels via the Akaroa Highway with breathtaking scenery of Akaroa Harbour, Little River, Lakes Forsyth and Ellesmere, the Southern Alps and the Canterbury Plains.

On arriving in Christchurch, and following a stop at the nearby botanical gardens, enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of the city’s highlights and landmarks, many of which were badly damaged in the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. See for yourself the devastating destruction of the central city and the rebuild that is currently taking place.

After your tour of the city, continue on to Willowbank Wildlife Reserve for a walk around the reserve and an introduction into the nature of New Zealand. Listen to your guide talk about and show some of the species that make up the country’s unique native wildlife, flora, and culture. Then, see some of New Zealand’s most endangered species, including the iconic kiwi, and learn about the work being done to preserve them.
