What people are saying about Wieliczka Salt Mine
This is a great tour at both venues. It is a long day, but worth it and we scheduled to do both in a day from Krakow. Our driver's personality left a bit to be desired and didn't really seem to like what he was doing. Fortunately, he wasn't our tour guide at the venues. The guides we had were great at both places. There was a bit too much time in Wieliczka for lunch and waiting for our appointed tour at the mines for some reason we didn't quite understand, but wondered the small town and found some ice cream to pass the time.
We booked the tour one week in advance and when we got there, it was easy to find the info tour, approx. 100 m down the road from the mine entrance. The woman guiding us was very professional, she told us stories about old family miners, we had visual effects in some areas of the mine, giving a very entertaining note to the tour.
This tour was recommended by family and friends, for good reason. Very pleasant and enjoyable, the only drawback being the length of the tour (at 2 hours 40 minutes) which means that you are tired and hungry by the end. In my opinion, a tour of 2 hours would be ideal.
Once you get over the descent, not for those prone to dizziness or problem knees, this trip is well worth it. To think that everything you see is carved out of salt is amazing. Great way to spend half a day and you get back out by lift.
Guide provided very little information compared to the guides immediately in front and behind our group. We also had great difficulty finding the meeting place to collect our tickets which were purchased online.
