What people are saying about Via Cavour
I did a complete round trip which took about 1 hour 40. Then stopped at a couple stops. Wish I’d stopped at each one looked around then went to next. Did night tour but first bus was full so couldn’t go on. Waited over hour for last bus and again was full and could only allow a few on. People in queue kicked off and the police were called. They did however get another bus for the rest of the queue. Glad I stuck it out tho as Rome at night is so beautiful - again did a full round trip in lights. In the morning I caught a bus to go to my Colosseum tour but it waited at bus stop for 20 mins so I missed my tour time. Check the bus is going straight away as pointless sitting on it going nowhere!
Great service, but please be aware that for the Vatican and Trevi Fountain for example, the bus drops you in the area rather than right at the exact place. I expected that we would see these places just from the bus. Having said that, I would still use this service again, it was great to hop on a bus after a long hot day, and there is still lots of amazing things to see. As well as the bus driver there was a member of staff on board, I found them to be really helpful and welcoming.
There are a number of operators in Rome and I am glad I chose this one. It is slightly more expensive then the others but this meant that for some of the other companies the lines at the bus stops were so long that people had to let one or two busses go pass as there was no space on the top. This one was busy as well but there was always a seat on the top. Stops are very conveniently located and busses run so frequent, you really never have to wait for the next one.
Easy to book and pay for prior to leaving home. Staff happy to greet and explain how the service works. Staff also smiling and happy to see you even when returning time and time again. Recommend the multi-day ticket. Use the first journey to see what there is, use the map to note which stop is nearest to what you want to see, then go back the following day to hop on / off as you like.
Overall it was good I did not like the pressure of keeping up with the receipt to show each time I boarded a bus. Tourists are constantly making purchases along the route and accumulating receipts which can be thrown out by mistake.
