What people are saying about Ubud

What an outstanding host & extraordinary experience.

I enjoy every minute of the experience. The host, Sumi, is truly the best and knowledgeable guide that I ever had while travelling to 14 countries. I was surely touched and amazed by the village's hospitabie people, distinctive culture, religion, houses, lifestyles and of course, the authentic Bali's foods that I and Sumi family cooked together. I fall in love with everything, Sumi's wonderful family and sweet neighbors. This delightful, culturally rich village has so much, so much to offer! I had the best cultural excursions ever. Without hesitation, I happily, highly recommend this experience to anyone who want to touch first-hand uniqe Bail beyond magazines, tv and internet. Sumi definitely got my eyes wide opened and horizon expanded while smiling a lot. Every story is inspiring that I can not wait to share with my American students while teaching Asian history and culture. Go visit Sumi! I know you will enjoy every minute, every story and every heritage as much as I do.

Bali has become our second home thanks to the warmhearted family!

My husband and I did become members of a Balinese Family but not just for a day. The memory of this tour will stay in our mind for a long time to come. We had participated in private home visit tours in may countries in the past but this tour was so special because of our host Sumi, his sweet wife, lovely daughter, his brother and his parents. They opened their home in the eco-friendly Pengelipuran Village, shared their tradition, culture and everyday life with us. His mother made traditional rice cakes, Sumi and his wife showed us how to make typical Balinese dishes i.e. Sate grilled with coconut shell charcoal, Green Papaya Curry, Fish/Vegges Wrapped in Banana Leaves, Tempe, Bali Sausages, and Steamed Rice made from rice Sumi's father grew in the traditional terrace paddy field! Bamboo Forest, Market, World Heritage Terrace Rice fields, Coffee Plantation visits were also enjoyable. But beyond them all, we enjoyed conversation and undivided attention & their personality!

Very good experience and well spent day!

Location: Very calm and beautiful farm with a real jungle feeling Staff: Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and funny as well! Program: 1) We got picked up from city centre and collected three more people before we went to a very local market up north from Ubud. Tasted several fresh fruits and fried jackfruit and were shown around 2) arrived at the beautiful farm and got a welcome drink (coffee/tea) (free water for whole time) before we got a tour around the farm with explanations about various plants and trees and we collected our fresh ingredients at the same time 3) cooking time! Everyone prepared each course for themselves in pairs and really step by step. All the meals turned out to be really really yummy! The portions were actually big so we were pretty full after the food. When you have leftovers you can take them home with you as the staff will pack them for you (wrapped in banana leaf and newspaper bag = sustainable/eco friendly) GREAT DAY!

Sensational Sumi extroadinary Balinese infused experience

From start to finish this experience was phenomenal and authentic to the life of a Balinese person. Sumi is inspirational as his passion for his traditions and culture came through during each carefully crafted activity. I gained so much knowledge into how a Balinese sources their food, cooks a traditional meal, what happens in a traditional Balinese village and school. I loved every second. Sumi and his family are so warm and made me feel at ease when making the lunch and eating together too. If you’re looking for something different to experience you must book this. It’s worth every penny. I did this on my first day to Bali. This was a great introduction to the culture and traditions setting me up for the rest of my 3 week adventure. Nice walk through a bamboo forest and Sumi was a great photographer all day too. This unique experience and such warm hearted people I will treasure in my heart forever. Sumi you truly are one of a kind.

Perfect day: culture, food, family, sightseeing

This day was exactly what we were looking for: to live and understand the real life of a Balinese family. He picked us up from our hotel, during the journey we talked a lot and then we stopped at the market. Arrived at the traditional village we were welcommed by the entire family and then we prepared the lunch with original tools! Amazing experience! In the afternoon he took us for a guided tour in the bamboo forest, plantation of coffee, rice terrace, and we asked also to stop at another temple on the way back to the hotel. What else? Sumi was really kind, open and always helpful to our questions. He makes us fell part of the family. I would recommend this tour to everyone!!
