What To See From The TV Tower

At 368 meters tall, the TV Tower is the tallest structure in Berlin (and, actually, in the whole of Germany!). What should you look out for during a trip to the top?

Reichstag

Reichstag

Designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster, the glint of the German parliament building's distinctive glass dome should easily catch your eye.

Brandenburg Gate

Brandenburg Gate

Just south of the Reichstag, you'll see the iconic symbol of German reunification.

Olympic Stadium

See if you can spot the white circle of the stadium, where the infamous 1936 Olympics took place. These days, it has become home to arena concerts and important football matches.

Tiergarten

Tiergarten

What's that massive patch of dark green in the middle of the city? It's the Tiergarten, Berlin's answer to Central Park, dating back to 1527.

Revolving Restaurant

Feeling peckish? No need to come back down to earth. The revolving restaurant allows you to enjoy lunch or dinner while getting 360-degree panoramic views from your seat.

Our insider tips

Do I need to book a tour in advance?

It's advisable, since this is definitely one of the top attractions in Berlin. Many tour options will come with a Fast View ticket, which will take you straight to the front of the line.

When should I go?

Any time of year is fine, but the skies will generally be clearer (and the sunset will happen later!) from May onwards.

What are the opening hours?

Entry is from 9:00AM until midnight from March to October, and 10:00AM to midnight from November until February.

Is the tower wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, the tower is not wheelchair accessible for reasons of fire evacuation.

Overall very nice, just one slight issue

I've visited a few times now and am always impressed. The only thing I didn't like this time is that we were asked to move tables so that the staff could start preparing the restaurant for breakfast the next day. While it was no big deal, it is not a great end to the evening to have to move and then see the tables around you being moved. At least it would have been nice to be offered a drink on the house, for example, to make up for the slight inconvenience.

Food, service and ambience were exceptional

My husband and I saved this until the final night of our trip. The service was outstanding, we were treated like VIP's. The choice was adequate (3 dishes of each course) however the food was exceptional, real fine dining style. There was unlimited water included, a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and 2 large glasses of very nice wine. The view was outstanding, the atmosphere was tranquil and relaxing and we'll worth the cost. Would highly recommend this.

A must visit in Berlin (but beware the shambolic queues)

Great visit to the Tower spoiled by the shambles in organising the queues. Fast track restaurant ticket but waited in a queue nearly 25 minutes to get in after queuing 10 minutes to hand over my coat as you can't take it in the restaurant. Staff seem to be disorganised. The views are spectacular. Best time to go is in Winter around 3pm.

Very good nostalgic experience, even if visibility was poor.

This was a must revisit for myself and my family. Not been up the tower since 1989 when still in east berlin. Vurtually the same, although the surrounding area has really improved since the fall of the Berlin wall. Will be back again one day, hopefully the weather might be better for the views though

Interesting audio-guide and good food at the restaurant.

They are quite flexible with the time at the restaurant, so you can do your audio tour of the dome without rush and then go have your lunch. Note: drinks are extra and quite expensive (water & tea/coffee included)
