Top sights in London
London's iconic Tower Bridge is as extravagantly British as is possible for a bridge to be! It's undoubtedly a must-see. So how do you make the most of your visit to this unique triumph of engineering?
42 meters above the river, Tower Bridge's new glass walkway provides a knee-knocking view of the boats and pedestrians passing beneath your feet. Don't worry, it's quite safe!
The East Walkway not only offers great views across London's historic trading ports and buildings, but is also used as one of the city's most unique exhibition spaces.
Today the bridge is held up by Wi-Fi and selfies (probably), but the old engine rooms demonstrate the former logistic miracle that powered it, complete with authentic sounds and smells!
The short westward stroll leaving Tower Bridge offers a view spanning City Hall, HMS Belfast, and the Shard!
While at Tower Bridge, there are few excuses not to visit its historic namesake, the Tower of London. If you're short on time, the nearby gardens of St. Dunstan-in-the-East are a worthy substitute.
The closest Tube station to Tower Bridge is Tower Hill on the District and Circle lines. The Tower Gateway DLR station is just as close.
Bridge lifts are booked in advance for passing ships. There is no set schedule, but if you want to be sure to see the event, times can be easily found on Tower Bridge's official website. Failing that, you can book a bridge lift yourself for free. All you need is a very tall boat!

What people are saying about Tower Bridge
We loved the whole experience, staff and crews were friendly and helpful. The views on the river hops were great and the on board commentary was informative and entertaining. The weather did help, it was a lovely sunny day. The Tower Bridge history, information areas and the Engine Rooms were excellent. The walk over the top of the bridge on the glass floor with the mirrored ceiling was brilliant. Thank you, we will be recommending to our friends.
Our guide Rob met us outside the Tower Hill Station and right from that moment we knew we were in for a special tour. His humour and depth of knowledge on the history of London Tower (and so much more) was impressive. The tour itself gave us plenty of time to see and experience all that was available - no rush at all. I highly recommend this tour.
Ideal way to see the river and easy to take photos without obstructions. The four piers gave every opportunity to view the main London sites and the cruise boats were very regular and reliable. Our 12 year old grandson loved all of it. My only criticism is that, for young and old, the seats on upper deck were not particularly comfortable.
The boat was not as expected but fortunately there was enough room to sit outside. My rating would be different if that had happened. The photo online shows a boat with outside area on top and much bigger. This is a bit misleading. However the journey was fine and commentary entertaining.
My husband and I had a fabulous time, well worth the money. We did the walking tour with Giles and he was the best! Fantastic fun and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Then boarded the bus and Emma was our guide. Couldn’t recommend her enough. We really enjoyed her commentary - FIVE STARS PLUS
