Full description
Explore the historic city of Toulouse with a guide on a tour that can be customized for your convenience, and get information about the sights you will see along the way.

Start with a visit to the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, constructed in a Romanesque style between 1080 and 1120. Marvel at the quality of the many sculptures at the largest remaining Romanesque building in Europe, and discover why it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list as part of the "World Heritage Sites of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela" in 1998.

Then, visit the large brick building of the Church of the Jacobins, built over a century in the Gothique Méridional (southern Gothic) style. Learn how it received the body of Thomas Aquinas (Saint Thomas D'Aquino) from Pope Urban V in 1368 to encourage pilgrims and the up-keep of the church. Hear how it was used by Napoleon as a stable for his horses during his war campaigns.

Next, visit Hôtel d'Assézat before ending at the Capitole de Toulouse. Admire the 8 columns of the marble facade, built according to plans by Guillaume Cammas Caunes-Minervois to symbolize the first 8 sheriffs of Toulouse.

Excellent introduction to Toulouse

Silvania was knowledgeable about the main sites and gave us a thorough history of the city and highlighted the must see sites that we should return to, especially when fees would be charged. As the tour was on a Monday, quite a few churches and other sites we not open, however she made this clear and took us to these so we could find them later in the week. This was a worthwhile tour as an introduction for further exploration. The only advice was that some of the historical information was a little too detailed for our needs.

Excellent tour of Toulouse highlights and history.

Silvanna was awesome. She was pleasant, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about Toulouse, the city she lives in and loves. Walking around Toulouse with her was a rewarding and entertaining experience. She knew a lot, answered our questions, suggested a wonderful place for lunch afterwards. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get to know the city better. Our only regret was that we didn’t have more time to explore some of the things she pointed out on the tour as we left the city afterwards. Thank you Silvanna!!
