Located in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark is the 170-year-old Tivoli Gardens. It is said that this amusement park was built so that the kingdom’s citizens would think less about politics, and so it remains a wonderland to leave worries at the door.

Depending on your interests—dinner, entertainment, rides—there’s a few inclusive options to choose from. Pay the Tivoli Gardens entrance fee alone or get a wristband for unlimited rides. Admission is free for children under eight.
Because the amusement park is located right next to the Copenhagen Central Station and a ten minute walk from City Hall, walking around the area is especially rewarding. Explore the beautiful city as it should be—walking along the canal admiring the Nordic architecture.
The experience wouldn’t be complete without knowing something about the place. The founder, Georg Carstensen, was able to get King Christian VIII on board with the Tivoli gardens amusement park by saying, “When the people are amusing themselves, they do not think about politics.”

- Open April 1 - September 20, Sunday through Thursday, 11:00AM to 11:00PM, Friday and Saturday, 11:00AM to 12:00AM.
- Is it expensive?
- Adult admission starts at 99DKK (about $15) and continues upward with ride ticket and tour purchases.
- Will I need a guide?
- A guide inside the park is not necessary, but there are great options around the city and cover the park.
- How to get there
- It's a couple minute's walk from Central Station, or take the 2A, 12, 26, 97N or 250S bus to Rådhuspladsen (København).
