What people are saying about Thessaloniki
Our driver, George, picked us up at the arranged time and drove us safely to our destinations. He is a very safe, patient driver with good historical knowledge which made the trip more interesting. The museum at Pella was well laid out and contained many interesting artefacts and mosaics. Museum staff were very helpful and friendly. Sadly the excavation area at Pella was not quite as good as others we have visited either due to lack of money or poor excavation. There is the potential for improvements for the benefit of visitors should the museum wish to make them. Vergina was amazing. Nice little town with an awesome museum. Not seen one like it before. 2 great tombs surrounded by the museum within the tumulus. Highly recommended to anyone interested in history. Lunch in Vergina was well priced and enjoyable.
We were picked up from our hotel promptly and visited the most interesting winery museum you will see anywhere. Nikos our guide was most informative about the wines and also the history of Thessaloniki. Our tour guide at the winery was excellent and her knowledge of the industry exceptional. The winery we were taken to was world class. We booked at last minute and tour company was still able to organise tour to two different wineries. Second winery was a small new winery where we met with the wine maker for tastings. He was very generous with both his time and his wines. Our tour was not rushed, our guide went over allotted time. We fully recommend this tour.
Sarantis went well beyond expectations. He asked us about our preferences and gave us different options to choose from. The tour was customised to our wants and needs. He brought us to places in Greece and showed us a different side of Greece. And oh! Lunch was absolutely beautiful. Go to the restaurant up the mountain! We made that choice and it was the best choice ever. He even stayed with us well beyond the hours required just to send us to the airport at an appropriate time (not too early). I have so much more to say but not many characters left so I'm going to leave this review with these words: do it!
Alltogether I enjoyed the trip, the drive was long, but our guide was giving us information on the Mount Olympus we passed, How its related to the God Zeus and How Alexander the great assembled his armies. I enjoyed the trip and the Beauty to see in Greece. A really good opportunity to Escape The City Life and see something breathtaking in nature. We went to 2 Monasteries as promised. And in between we went to a really nice Spot to take pictures. It was basically the highland of taking pictures. The guys should make sure to wear pants for the monasteries, based on their religious beliefs.
Meteora is amazing place to visit, but it is best to rent a car to go there. This tour is ok, but the guides are not telling much and not very motivated. We visited only 2 monasteries and lunch was very late! They don’t tell the schedule in advance, which did not help to preare best for the trip. They only make one stop on the way and there is no toilet in the bus. The lunch was very basic and small portion, so take snacks.
