What people are saying about The Birds, Vancouver
Our tour operator was extremely organized and informative with lots of attention to detail throughout the booking process. The tour itself was interesting and well run. The only thing I would have done differently is not opt for the airport drop off following the tour (a nice perk is that they will provide hotel and airport drop off). What I didn't realize was that in addition to the hotels near Canada Place (where cruise ships come in), they also provide hotel drop off at Richmond hotels (Richmond is where airport is). The result was a long trip to get to airport (airport is last stop). We should have opted to take the easy, inexpensive light rail train to the airport from downtown, immediately following the tour. Of course, this wasn't the fault of the tour operator as the stops will vary each tour, depending upon what hotels people have booked. I just would have done it differently had I the benefit of hindsight.
I wasn't sure what to expect! On arrival I was treated very courteously and with patience especially as I was unsure of what to do. The flight itself was very exciting? Zooming across the water as the plane picked up speed was a unique experience. As we lifted off, the view was fascinating as everything below got smaller and smaller! The pilot flew us over a large area of Vancouver and we were able to see how the city varied so much, from the central sky scraper area to the outer populated suburbs and the industrial parts including the complex rail system. As we turned to land I was a little apprehensive, not knowing what to expect. As we touched the water it was surprisingly smooth. All in all, a day to remember and a trip well worth taking!
This is truly a must do while in Vancouver, especially if travelling with friends or family. We have two young boys who both loved the whole thing (particularly take off and landing and the snow topped mountains!). The staff at Harbour Air were very friendly, and we had no problems getting checked in with the family, and were able to leave our bags in the terminal (at no extra charge). The terminal is well equipped, including the free coffee and pastries which we certainly made use of and were not expecting. The pilot was great, talked us through the route he was taking and what we should look out for and asked before take off if there was anything in particular anyone wanted to see. A very worthwhile (if slightly pricey) experience!
Wolf picked us up on time at the River Rock Resort and brought us to Eric and the rest of the gang. It was a good tour - unfortunately with traffic we started late and got back later than planned but we were fine with that, as we didn't have any other plans.
We saw so much in four hours. Loved it. The driver was from the area and knew about the area. Included many interesting details. The tour fit into our schedule and allowed us to see more of Vancouver than we would have on our own. Thank you.
