Full description
Climb up the highest mountain in Spain – Pico del Teide – on this demanding day tour. You will start from the road through Cañadas towards El Portillo, reaching a height of approximately 2,300 meters. As the route gradually approaches the mountain, you will first reach the back of the Montaña Blanca with the "Huevos del Teide" (the eggs of Teide), huge black rocks. After 1.5 hours, the path through the pumice and lava fields becomes steeper and leads you to the refuge Refugio de Altavista. You will continue on across solidified lava flows to the mountain station of the cable car. You will then hike all the way to the summit of Mount Teide, using your pre-organized special permit. Enjoy the fantastic views of the Canary islands and experience the tranquility of the summit. At the end of the tour you will take the cable car back down to the starting point.

You can do this hike by taking the cable car then walking the last bit but I wanted to walk the whole thing. Steffi was great at keeping us on track so we would make the summit in time and also making sure those at a different pace were not left behind. The views are spectacular and well worth the effort. I really enjoyed chatting with others; we had such a friendly group of people from all over the world. If you get to the summit, be prepared to feel totally amazed at the views and the achievement!

A demanding walk for someone in their mid-60s but everyone could walk at their own pace and Steffi made sure that no one got isolated. Some in the party only made it to the cable car station and not to the peak. The weather on the day that I made the hike was outstanding and the scenery and views were magnificent. Was part of a lovely multi-national group of hikers.

Great, highly recommended!

Small group with 10 people. Tour guide Steffi very very friendly. With her many years of hiking and mountain experience, she made sure from the start that everyone would come along and that nobody would spend too quickly. With every small talk, I also felt that I felt everyone belonged to the group. The tour itself is challenging. Less of the route profile than of the effects of the height (personal feeling). You should be in good condition. The view from above (even with cloudy weather) and the feeling of having reached the top is worth the effort. Walking sticks cannot hurt. At two intermediate stations there is the possibility of emergency catering with sweets, small change is required for the machines. Pick-up is only from hotels in the south. If you come from the north, you should travel by rental car yourself (but it is easily doable). Please book directly with the provider. The services provided should also benefit the guides in full. Responsiveness high and reliable!
