Full description
After early-morning pickup from hotels in Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Jerusalem, Bat Yam, and Netanya, head south to nearby Bethlehem, the City of David. This was the home town of King David's father, and the place where Christ was born to Mary and Joseph. The first stop is the Church of the Nativity, perhaps the oldest functioning church in the world, constructed in the 4th century and expanded in the 6th century. Gaze upon faint golden mosaics and pink limestone columns, which bear inscriptions dating back to the Crusades.

Beneath the church is the Grotto of the Nativity where it is believed that Jesus was born. After touring the grotto, the Chapel of the Manger, and the Alter of the Adoration of the Magi, you’ll head to the adjacent Church of Saint Catherine. Descend into the grottos of the church, which hold tombs, connections to the grottos of the Church of the Nativity, and chapels. The tour concludes with a walk through Shepherds' Field, where an angel appeared to a group of shepherds to tell that that a savior had been born in Babylon. Today a tent-shaped chapel stands in the field designed by renowned architect Antonio Berluzzi.
