Full description
Day 1: Tangier, Meknes, and Mly Idriss Zerhoun

You will leave Tangier early in the morning to begin your journey discovering the hidden mystics that surround the second-oldest empire in the world. You will go south following a panoramic mountain road, catching sights of the northern mountains and the tidy olive trees along the way. Upon your arrival to Meknes, You will have some time to promenade in its beautiful cafes in the main square. Meknes is the twin city of Fez, with the current dynasty building it as their very first capital in their early days. It was the first capital of unified Morocco after centuries of chaos.

The walls surrounding it were designed to sustain cannons' attacks unlike other medinas. In its time, Meknes was the strongest fortification in all of North Africa. You'll visit the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum, before continuing onward to Mly Idriss Zerhoun. There you will have the opportunity to visit the Moulay Idriss Citadel, which dates back to the 8th century. The value of this citadel lies in the fact that it was the first Islamic capital when the Arab Muslims came first to Morocco. At the conclusion of your first day, you will overnight in your riad in Mly Idriss Zerhoun.

Day 2: Meknes and Volubilis

Your second day will be spent further discovering Meknes. Encounter the famous gate of Bab Mansour, which was a sign of defiance to European powers due to the fact that a Portuguese captive designed it. This same captive served as the architect of the Sultan Moulay Ismail, also designing the Sahrij Souani Bassin and the underground prison. Later, visit the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum, which is dedicated to the founder of the city, before enjoying lunch.

Following lunch your journey continues to Volubilis. This Roman city dates back to the 25 B.C., yet some of its original mosaics are very well preserved. That evening you will overnight in a cozy riad/hotel in Meknes.

Day 3: Meknes and Fes

Following a traditional breakfast, you will go on discovering the mythical side of this ancient city before being dropped off at a location of your choosing in Fes.
