What people are saying about Staatliche Museen zu Berlin
We were traveling as a group of 6 on a tight schedule, so the skip the line tickets were perfect for us. We used the mobile version of the tickets and showed up at the start of the time window, and got in without issue - though we did have to walk all over downstairs to find the coat check area for our bags. After that, though, we enjoyed exploring the different artifacts in the museum. Nefertiti was beautiful - and you can take a photo of her if you stand back behind a certain line, FYI. There's a certain part of the museum where they actually have artifacts you can touch which was pretty amazing to us because these artifacts were hundreds of years old!
Amazing array of objects. Some interesting short films too. Very striking space - part-restored but with evidence of Berlin’s history shown by the battering the building has taken. There is a cafe but it’s dark and not that welcoming - somewhere to get a drink at least. Not an over-friendly atmosphere as those on duty pace around you very obviously as you’re looking. Pleased to see the bust of Nefertiti. Hadn’t realised the Schliemann gold from Troy is not there (tho they display copies) - though other more ordinary things from those excavations are.
I booked at the last minute - the day before - and only after booking did I get the message that I would receive the tickets "in 48 hours", but that would have been too late! In he end, the tickets arrived just before I left for the museum. I also was unable to reach anyone to get help. However, as I said, it turned out fine.
Booked for first time slot. Headed to Level 2 to see Queen Nefertit's bust first with very few other people in the room with us. NO photos of the bust but able to take photos of other exhibits. Spent several hours enjoying the well laid out exhibits. DId not disappoint.
SO VERY GLAD to have pre-booked and 'skipped the line'. Especially once we got to the Neues Museum (Egyptian Museum) to find a line for tickets almost one kilometre long of people waiting to buy their ticket in freezing cold weather and we just walked in.
