What people are saying about Split
I was in Plitvice in Aug 2016 and could not enter : too many people, traffic Jam, queue for tickets : I abandoned really disappointed. This time : no queue , all smooth : great , except the bus inside did not have air conditioning. You should do this in all of your country !!! Your country became a mass destination and the quality is declining rapidly because your infrastructure (airport, transportation , hotels and general capacity) is not able to absorb this mass of people. What you did for Plitvice should be done anywhere else in your so nice country.
Me and my fiancee were picked up from our hotel as promised. The ride was very unique and thrilling. Tino was an excellent driver (who drove like crazy), knew everything about the island and just generally an awesome guy. Trip's highlights were the olive oil museum, seeing the whole island from the top of the mountain (Vidova Gora), the beach at Zlatni Rat and eating a delicious lunch at an authentic and cozy Mediterranean farm house. Definitely worth participating!
This trip was a perfect way to see Krka. You get to enjoy the waterfalls with plenty of time to explore on your own but having a guide with advice and all the historical information makes it so much more enjoyable. I loved learning all about Croatia, Split and it's history. The highlight for me was definitely the lunch. Traditional, filling and a great way to get to know the other people touring with you. Sibenik was beautiful and a great way to end the day.
A long day out (12+ hours). The Plitvice Lakes were fabulous albeit rather crowded. We stopped at a service station and a village on the way to the lakes and then felt a bit rushed at the lakes and very rushed when we transferred buses for the final journey to Split so would rather have skipped one of those stops. Our guide, Marinko was very good, particularly handling a largish group (27) of people of very mixed abilities.
Was there in July with a lot of tourists, including the rest of my family. Even so, plenty of opportunities to sit or just enjoy the water and wildlife. Had a great time and actually appreciated the bus ride from Split (our base camp for this vacation), as it allowed rest and a view of the countryside.
