Full description
The Speyside Whiskey region is centered around the River Spey, and home to almost half of all the Scottish distilleries. These include the big names of Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and Macallan, as well as lesser-known distilleries such as Craigellachie and Ballindalloch. Those first three alone make up over a third of the entire single malt market. In fact, Speyside distilleries produce over 226 million liters of malt whiskey every year.

Depart from Inverness and journey to Benromach Distillery. This small independently owned distillery was founded in 1898 and produces half a million liters of spirit a year. Continue south to the Spey, making a quick stop in at Macallan for photos and a look round visitor center. Enjoy a photo-stop at Craigellachie Bridge.

Your lunch-stop is at Glenfiddich, where you have time to look at Balvenie Castle or walk up to Dufftown. Take a short drive down to the Speyside Cooperage for a chance to see the coopers at work. Be amazed at how fast the men build a cask. Over 150,000 casks are produced or repaired here each year. Your final stop is Glenlivet, which holds a new record selling over 12 million bottles worldwide.
