What people are saying about Souks
We met Mustapha our guide in Djema el Fna whilst looking at our map, he found us as we were standing right next to him facing our meeting point - it couldn't have been easier. He is a lovely, open-minded, intelligent and gregarious guide, with excellent English. The tour is timed perfectly as the sun is just on its way down, the temperature is dropping to a comfortable level and the hustle and bustle of the city is ramping up. The tour took in the best of the city's food heritage and culture, some of which you'd just never have known were where they are until you're guided to them by Mustapha. He is a lively guy, full of interesting facts and tit bits of information about places stopped at. His guiding technique is just pitched right so you have time to talk to your partner/friends, soak in the environment and listen to the next jewel of information or bite to eat. Do it as soon as you get there to get your bearings around the Souks and southern Medina district.
Youssef met us at the appointed time; he was punctual, very polite and made us feel at ease right away. The other people that were meant to turn up didn’t and so, we had a private tour. We wandered through the streets of Marrakesh, stopping to have some locally prepared doughnuts that were surprisingly different to anything we had tried before - really tasty and not sweetened, washed down with some mint tea. We continued trough the streets of the medina trying pastries, olives, locally baked bread and other delicacies on the way, learning about some of the history and tradition. We then sat down to some local soup and finally, our main meal; I tried the sheep’s head and my partner had a tangier. All the food was really nice, we spent time with locals and all a wonderful experience thanks to Youssef. He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and we felt very safe in his company. Thanks again for a great experience. Tunde and Therese
Booked this tour for my girlfriend and I and it did not dissapoint. Omar our tour guide went above and beyond our expectations. He gave us a in depth history of the food we were tasting and was also great fun to be around. At the end of the night he helped us find a way back to our hotel and made sure we got a fair price on our tuk tuk back, which was very kind of him! One helpful tip for those thinking of booking, go on an empty stomach as you're provided with plenty of food. Thank you Omar once again for a memorable experience in Marrakech.
He navigated the souks with ease and made sure nobody got lost or left behind as the square and souks are rather chaotic which was very reassuring. It was such an authentic experience and loved every minute of it. Our tour ended up being 4 hours as we were all having such a great time. And Omar, the gentleman, even got us back to the taxi rank and put us in a taxi back to our hotel. Would definitely recommend this tour. Thanks again Omar, you were super!!
This was really a fantastic worthwhile tour. Our guide, I think she was called Adinka, was extremely knowledgable about everything we asked her, and gave us loads of other interesting facts besides the food, all about the Moroccan culture and history of Marrakech. We really enjoyed this 3 hour tour, and some very tasty titbits to eat too as well as the main meal. Five stars to her.
