Personalised tour to Sintra and surrounds

Alexandra picked us up at the Time Out market and took us in her car on a full day tour. She recommended a reverse order to the usual, so Cascais, Cabo da Roca and we then chose to walk through the Pina Palace grounds, visit Pina Palace, Sintra town and Quinta da Regaleira (skipped the queue). The reverse order meant we avoided all the traffic - a good call. A fabulous day in total with Alexandra always at the ready to collect us for the next place. Her knowledge of the sites was text book perfect. On reflection, a better option would be to go to the Pina Palace main entrance (Alexandra as a tour operator can allow you to skip the 1 hour queue) and then wander the grounds at your leisure. Frankly, I would skip Sintra (too many tourists) and go for the Moorish castle instead. A fully personalised tour with Alexandra.

Half Day Trip to Sintra, Cascais, Cabo da Roca from Lisbon

Highly recommend if you have only a few hours to spare on your trip to Lisbon! Marisa, our guide was extraordinary and the trip was amazing. Though a bus tour, our group was a comfortable size and not overwhelming at all. Sintra was breathtaking. We visited Palacio Nacional de Sintra, the only extant medieval palace in Portugal. The drive through Sintra was stunning, and the vistas along the coastline were spectacular. We visited Boca do Inferno, Cabo da Roca (westernmost point in Europe), and the lovely seaside resort of Cascais. The experience I gained on this tour was an key reason I booked my return trip back to Portugal within 6 weeks of returning home! HIGHLY recommend this tour and returning to spend more time in stunning Sintra and Cascais!

Our guide, John, was from Sintra and was exceptional!

Having a private and extremely knowledgeable guide was definitely the way to cover Sintra and Cascais. I can’t say enough about our guide who was called John. He was one in a million. If you are considering a similar trip ask for him. His luxury Peugeot van made travelling in style. He taught us so much we would have had no way of knowing otherwise. He took exceptional care of my elderly mother. He was totally professional in every way possible. He spent time asking us at the beginning of the day about our preferences, how we wanted to spend the day, what our major interests were etc. And totally customized the tour accordingly. We couldn’t have been happier. Thank you so much John! Jane Lennon from Canada.

Great guide, not so ideal transportation

We were supposed to have a minivan for our tour of sites in and around Sintra. Instead we got a big 4x4. It meant we were 3 on a side and one in front. It was difficult to see out the sides and to hear our guide. Alex was our guide and he was really excellent. He has a degree in history so he gave us really good background on what we were seeing and help us to contextualize it within the larger scope of Portuguese history. He also made great suggestions on local specialties to taste. He was really engaging and fun to be with.

The tour was Fantastic, we saw so much in a few hours!!

I was so thankful I decided to book this tour! The tour of Palacio da Pena (the Royal Palace) was worth every penny, however, on top of that we saw the beautiful beaches on the coast with wind surfers and vacationers along the way to Cabo Da Roca (the most western point of Europe). Cascais was an incredible hidden gem with many restaurants and shops. Leaving Cascais we were able to view the beautiful homes and Casinos straight out of a James Bond movie. I highly recommend it!
