The tour was great, we were able to see the Vietnamese side of the war and understand more about how the Vietnamese (and more specifically the Viet Cong people) lived during the war. They tried to present the facts, without being too opinionated, which was great. At Cu-Chi tunnels we were able to go through the tunnels several times, also to fire a few rounds with several guns (we chose an AK47) at a decent price (around 27 USD for 10 bullets; 10 bullets is the minimum, and they can be split between two people). Overall, a great experience. Also the service was good (both lunch and the bus), and the tour guide was very honest and knowledgeable.
The tour was good and went as described but if I had to do it again I would just do the Cu Chi tunnels and do the rest of the activities around town myself. I didn't think the post office or cathedral were worth visiting. It was nice to have a guide around the reunification palace but we were not guided around the war remnants museum and really you don't need a guide for that. Cu Chi tunnels was great, it definitely made things easier to go on tour and our group size was not huge so we got to make the most of our visit. There were parts that seemed a bit rushed but overall it was good.
Our guide (Sugar) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The driver was calm, which made us calm, especially in such a madcap scooter-tasting city where crossing the road successfully makes you feel like a stuntman! All the places we went to were first rate and to learn the history before each location helped with our own understanding. The Jeep was a real treat with a character all of its own and my wife and I loved it. Definately do this activity if your time in Ho Chi Minh allows.
The tour, especially our guide (Yen), was wonderful! There were a great variety of historical stops included as well as some art and cultural stops (egg shell crafting and coffee tasting). Our only complaint would be there wasn't near enough time to spend at the War Remnant Museum and it was (unfortunately) raining when we visited the Cu Chi Tunnels. However, we would certainly book again and refer this Group Tour to others looking to explore Saigon in a day!
What a wonderful way to start my first visit to Vietnam !! My guide took me through the different markets that aren't normally seen by tourists, and answered so many of my questions. I got to eat some local food and was able to stop for some shopping along the way. I will be back again for another trip.
