Full description
Enter the miraculous Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo and take a guided tour of the Augustinian church to see some of the treasures housed inside.

Located by the historic Porta Flaminia of the Aurelian Wall of Rome, the church dates back to the 11th century and was enlarged over the centuries before being reconstructed by Baccio Pontelli and Andrea Bregno in 1472-1477 on the orders of Pope Sixtus IV.

Once inside, admire masterpieces such as the Cerasi Chapel ("Cappela Cerasi") with its "Crucifixion of Peter" and "The Conversion of Saint Paul on the Road to Damascus" by Caravaggio. Look at the Chapel of the Nativity by Pinturicchio and see statues by Bernini, along with the famous Chigi Chapel designed by Raphael and completed by Bernini.
