Full description
You will be picked up from your hotel in Rome by your driver at 7:30 am. You'll enjoy a scenic 2 hour drive to Pompeii.

You’ll visit Pompeii Ruins on your own or with a tour guide (at an additional cost), then head to Sorrento with a stop for lunch (not included) and pictures along the way.

Your first stop is to Pompeii, where you will enjoy the Pompeii ruins. You can go inside on your own or if you wish, you have the option to include a private licensed guide for an additional fee.

Pompeii was an ancient Roman town near modern Naples, where the common people went on holidays at the time of the ancient Rome. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many ancient towns in the surrounding area, was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

The excavations are huge, and not every area can be visited. By the way tours can be organized to enter the excavations and see as much as possible. You can go inside on your own or with a private licensed guide.

If you wish, you have the option to have lunch (not included) in Pompeii instead of Sorrento. Your options are endless. You will enjoy the scenic drive along the coast as we head to Sorrento. You'll be able to experience the wonderful landscapes and can also stop to take pictures.

Your next stop is Sorrento. While in Sorrento, feel free to visit the main sites of the city, go for some shopping or just enjoy your free time in town. The beauty of Sorrento attracted many important people, and it inspired many songwriters to create songs about it. The town gave also birth to the poet Torquato Tasso, and one of the main squares of Sorrento is entitled to him. Sorrento located near the sea, and from its port ferries and hydrofoils sail to Naples, Capri and other areas nearby. The town is also famous for its Limoncello, one of the best you can find in Italy.

At the end of the tour, sit back, relax and enjoy your 2-1/2 hour drive back to your hotel in Rome. The duration of your tour is about 12 hours and you can expect to be back at your hotel around 7:30 pm, depending on local traffic.
