What people are saying about Rome

Perfect, highly recommend Jan our tour guide.

We had the most fantastic time on Jan’s tour around Palantine Hill, the Forum and the Colosseum. Jan was so informative, interesting, knowledgable and considerate. It was an extremely hot day and he ensured that we moved from shady spot to shady spot all without compromising the tour. He offered alternatives for those who couldn’t manage the walk/heat and ensured that everyone was ok throughout. His knowledge of Roman history and culture was incredible and he happily answered questions, welcoming discussion throughout the tour. We learnt so much and could clearly see Jan’s genuine passion and enthusiasm for his work. There were multiple stops for filling up water throughout the tour and opportunity for toilet breaks if need be. And no queuing time at all! The tour gave a fantastic over view of Ancient Rome but also provided amazing details of the sights we were seeing and indications of what life in Ancient Rome really would’ve been like. Highly recommend Jan and this tour, 10/10!

Guide was excellent but other things could be improved

The tour was good in that we did not need to wait in queues and got in relatively quickly. We had Maria who was a really good guide and had a lot of knowledge. The issue was not with Maria as she was great, it was with the audio devices as it kept cutting off all the time and I would miss things Maria was saying. This seems to be a common issue that if you get to far back from the guide it cuts of but this is difficult to stay at the front all the time with a group of around 25 people. I would also recommend that if you are a bit claustrophobic to avoid the Sistine Chapel, I had to leave early and find my group later as I thought I was going to faint due to the amount of people crammed in to the room. By the end of the tour, I stopped wearing my audio device because it kept cutting of and was frustrating which meant I missed out on a lot Maria was saying. Overall, Maria was great but listening devices need improved.

Jan was the perfect tour guide: knowledgeable, friendly and funny.

The guided tour I took was one of the best I've been on as Jan was very knowledgeable, constantly providing us with relevant and interesting details of what we were seeing. He was also very friendly and often answered questions from the all the tourists. Lastly, he showed a sense of humour that made the tour more relatable and down to earth. I would highly recommend this tour guide. The booking was also easy and it was no problem finding where the tour began. Overall, an excellent experience and well worth the money.

Went as a family and had a cracking time. Recommend.

Had a great time, made a real change from the usual sightseeing day out - the activity started slowly, as a family of 9 (!) had turned up on the wrong day, but the staff took it all in stride and made it work; by the end we were chatting to people from all over the world and having a grand old time of it. The food was pretty good too: mentally subtract the cost of a big meal + wine from the price and it's good value if you ask me. Great fun.

Skip the line is good, but very short tour

Guide was knowledgeable but didn’t talk for very long. Showed us a few things then left us on our own for 20 minutes and gave wrong directions to exit to meet second half of the tour. We did a tour a few years ago which was much more informative on coliseum. Guide for Palatine hill and forum -Alexander- was very good. But again, the tour itself was more on Palatine hill than forum (we never even entered the forum).
