What people are saying about Rome

Clear recommendation and real insider tip!

Clear recommendation and real insider tip! The guided tour through Ostia Antica with the archaeologist Maria Rita was a highlight of my trip to Rome. Perfectly prepared and organized by here. One invests half a day and understands so much more about the connections by the example of this phantasticly preserved Roman settlement and receives a living picture of this epoch. Even with children very well suitable, because Maria Rita adapts wonderfully didactically to her guests and includes even child interests. She tells with heart and soul and great knowledge. Ostia is so easy to reach (only 35 minutes from Stazioni Porto San Paolo, not far from Colosseo, with a normal city ticket for 1.50!) There is a very nice café in the mids of the parc with delicious food where you can relax wonderfully. Getting off the train you can already smell the pine trees and the sea air. Ostia Antica is a place of peace. No pushing and shoving. A relaxing little escape from the hectic rome.

Ostia Antica Guided Tour with Local Archaeologist Reviewed by Marie-Theres, 09/29/2019

Awesome tour of underground and upper levels.

After an initial delay by tour company and then being joined with a different group we got under way about 25mins late. The counter staff at top meeting point were fantastic and took us to a different meeting point for underground tours. Our guide at the coliseum Chiara was fantastic. Learnt so much, she was an archeologist and very informative. Got to see the upper sections which we weren’t expecting which was awesome. Underground def worth visiting. We had a different guide for the forum and palatine hill. More of a story teller. Potentially not the style of tour that we like. Only real negative was The different prices charged to people for same tour - we found out we’d paid quite a bit more than another Aussie couple on the tour who hadn’t Prebooked.

Best Hop-on Hop-off bus out of the many available

There are a number of operators in Rome and I am glad I chose this one. It is slightly more expensive then the others but this meant that for some of the other companies the lines at the bus stops were so long that people had to let one or two busses go pass as there was no space on the top. This one was busy as well but there was always a seat on the top. Stops are very conveniently located and busses run so frequent, you really never have to wait for the next one.

Great option to avoid lengthy admission queues.

Once we found the meeting place and our guide everything was well organised and, other than the queue for security checks which cannot be avoided or skipped, entry was quite quick. The length of time we had inside the Colosseum was enough to see everything and take it all in at a reasonable pace. This was followed by guided entry to Palentine Hill/Forum which, again, was quick and easy. I would definitely book again through this company for other tours/events.

Rome: Colosseum Skip-the-Line Self-Guided Tour Reviewed by Judith, 10/06/2019

Ideal combination of guide outline and own pace exploring.

Much better than doing a complete guide led tour. Our guide was absolutely excellent and knowledgable and full of enthusiasm. (Did not catch his name but he was proudly Rumanian.) Was our preference of tour after doing complete guide led tour of the Vatican Museum to be able to do things at our own speed. Only reason this is not five star is because finding right tour company at site and group allocation is pretty shambolic.
