5 Reasons To Pre-Book A Rome Airport Transfer

Whether you arrive at Fiumicino, Ciampino, or even the tiny Urbe airport, don't get caught short on the final stretch towards your Rome hotel. Here are five reasons to have a car waiting for you!

Don't wait

Don't wait

First and foremost, have your driver come and pick you up at arrivals rather than lining up for a cab with all your luggage. You definitely won't regret it in peak holiday season!

Public transport woes

Public transport woes

Trains and buses are inexpensive but not always the best option. Rome's metro line is very quick, but suffers from poor coverage and overcrowding.

Avoid hustlers

Avoid hustlers

Even if you avoid the airport hustlers and stick to a licensed cab, some drivers might try ripping you off. With a pre-arranged transfer you needn't worry about surprise charges.

Price

Price

Official taxis offer fixed rates into the city center, but booking a shared transfer will save you a lot of money.

Travel in style

While we're on the subject of pricing, booking a knowledgeable driver to point out the sights from a luxury limo or sedan needn't cost you much more than a standard cab!

Planning Your Visit

How much does it cost?

If you're traveling alone or as a pair, you can reach the city center with a cheap shared transfer (in either a minibus or people-carrier) for as little as €8 per person. Private transfers tend to price journeys per group. They start at around €55, but can work out as cheaply as €9-10 per person.

What about cruise port transfers?

Transfers are also available from Civitavecchia Cruise Terminal. If you're only in the city for a few hours as part of your cruise, why not book a chauffeured tour from the harbor instead? Transfers are also available from the airport to cruise port and vice versa.

What people are saying about Rome

Convenient way of travelling to the airport at a minimum cost.

Good way of transferring to the airport but allow plenty of time and pre book as very busy. The total journey time from Roma Termini was over an hour due to the Rome traffic and three further pick up stops before setting off to the airport. Comfortable trip and a bonus of seeing Rome again as you travelled out.

It was an easy and simple way to reach Rome city center.

I had a 7hr layover in Rome and I was able to quickly book the tickets and find the bus stop based on the details message. I was able to get off near the Vatican City and then walk through the city to the main station. I then borded back on the bus to return to the Airport. It was perfect.

Good experience. Small groups are the way to go.

Driver was on time. Van seemed brand new. Max was a very nice guy and a good driver. Traffic in Rome was crazy and it took away from spending a bit more time in all the attractions. Important: if you want to get inside the Vatican or the Colosseum this is not the tour for you.

bus was there on time. Instructions were good in terms of which number person should walk till (its a more than 5 mins walk so keep walking when you come out of airport and take right). ticket from app worked as expected and it took around 50 mins to reach termini station.

Very convenient, relaxing and reasonably priced. Traveling from

FCO airport to Naples. Glad to have easy assess to to bus pickup location near baggage claim. My plane arrived early and driver allowed us to board an earlier bus. Bus was comfortable and air conditioned and trip was on time.
