Highlights
  • Go river rafting on Hvítá River
  • Enjoy an Icelandic beer tasting
  • Visit Gullfoss Canyon
Full description
The adventure starts at Drumboddsstaðir, a charming farm near the Golden Circle route. You start by meeting your certified guide who will provide you with all the necessary equipment for the rafting adventure. After getting geared up we head down to Hvítá river in a bus where the guide will hold a safety briefing prior to the boats being dragged into the river.

Rafting down the Hvítá River is a magnificent way to enjoy the Icelandic nature in a different way. Cruise down the great glacier river running all the way from Langjökull glacier, Iceland’s second biggest glacier, and take in the incomparable surroundings that the roaring river has created over the years, with Brúarhlöð canyon as one of the highlights. The canyon has grand rock formations and portholes and you can see how the water has sculptured the breccia walls. Hvítá river also feeds the grand waterfall, Gullfoss, that is one of them most visited attractions in Iceland.

After the tour, return to the base camp again for a quick shower and sauna (optional) before getting a history lesson in Icelandic beer and beer culture. By then your mouth will definitely be all watery and longing for a nice cold beer and that’s when the actual Icelandic beer tasting will begin; a platter of 4 local favorites for you to enjoy.

It is recommended to bring: warm undergarments, preferably fleece or wool, warm socks and sweater and a change of clothes, bathing suit & towel.

I had an awesome time rafting, disappointed with beer tasting time.

I has an awesome time rafting. It was fun / beautiful scenery. Drivers and guides were friendly, informative and concerned for our safety. I had a great sunny day. I was VERY dissatisfied with the Local Beer tasting experience. I was the only person doing Beer Tasting. There was a group of about 25 men that had a BBQ /glasses of tap beer/other drinks after rafting. The other 13 rafters had a beer/other beverage on own and didn't know about Beer Tasting. The guide gave me 4 beers, 2 bottles, 2 cans. I felt very overwhelmed, embarrassed and awkward with this situation, with all this beer. I maybe consumed 1/3 of each container, and offered it to others. I feel I wasted a lot of BEER and MONEY. I thought I was going to do this in a group and feel advertising was misleading. I would have been happy with 1 glass of beer like others. You should be more clear with advertisement of Beer Tasting or eliminate it, people can buy there own beer if they want, Rafting-great, Beer Taste poor
