What people are saying about Quang Ninh

Wonderful places but sad for an UNESCO World Heritage Site

GOOD: The cruise takes you to wonderful places, service was good & the crew was friendly and even though the boat wasn't young as expected, the room was clean. BAD: Probably we got there when it was crowded. It wasn't the problem that there were too many visitors, the problem was the fuel smell at night from all the boats that had their generators turned on to satisfy the tourists. Disappointed that such a beautiful place is damaged by tourism - way too many oil leaks and trash in the sea for an UNESCO World Heritage Site! I was also surprised to see early in the morning a brown smelly liquid pumped out of the boat and coloring the sea... then I realized that I took a bath on a beach that was near that place... The description of the tour not really matching reality: 1. "Lavender takes you where only a few cruises go" - reality "a few dozen" 2. Pictures distort a bit the reality 3. Not clearly mentioned that the trip from Hanoi to Halong Bay is not included in the price (20$).

La Pinta Cruise with cheerful staff, amazing food and great views

Very good cruise experience with LaPinta cruise - was very impressed by Mr. Ha, the tour operator of the cruise. The wait staff and onboard cruise attendants were very cheerful, efficient and professional. I loved my spacious room and the balcony views of the rock formations of Ha long bay. Best part was the food - full course meals made especially for me (no seafood!) The staff made sure I received veggie meals at every course, was very appreciative of their attention to detail. The only con: the transportation to /from the Halong bay dock was a disaster - not very organized - needs work keeping cruise patrons from getting HIT or run over by cars and bikes walking with luggage from the main car parking lot to the dock area. Buses organizers seemed confused on what bus shuttle passengers went to what boat. Other than that, all good. Highly recommend LaPinta. Good value for the money.

Top notch experience, extremely well coordinated with helpful staff

We had an amazing experience on this two-night three-day cruise. Communication beforehand was clear and courteous. Pick up took place on time, staff were very helpful and transfer to the cruise terminal and the ship was well coordinated. We boarded without hitch, had a tremendous welcome with a drink and then some lunch. My companion was sick at the time and staff really went out of their way to take us to the rooms early and bring us lunch there. They checked up on her throughout our stay and were very thoughtful and caring. Dinner and breakfast were buffets - dinner was quite comprehensive, breakfast was a bit limited but still excellent. Drinks were a bit expensive. Our day trip to Cat Ba was an incredible experience. The deck of the ship was also very nicely decorated and the bartenders are very funny and enthusiastic. Overall highly recommend this trip!

Great cruise, fun activities and nice crew

The cruise is really fun and worth the money. You can get picked up from your hotel to be taken to the boat house. From there you enter the boat, checking in to your room first. Then you’ll have lunch and after lunch you have activities like kayaking and cave exploring. ‘Sunset party’ afterwards with happy hour. After that there is dinner followed by squid fishing (nobody caught anything our night). The morning starts with tai chi lessons and breakfast. After breakfast you go visit the fishing village, which isn’t that spectacular. The boat ride is nice but the village itself is nothing remarkable. The trip is concluded with making your own spring roll and lunch. The trip was lots of fun, the activities were nice and fun and the crew was always friendly and there to help.

The car was comfortable. Foods were good. Activity was not bad.

I choose a tour which is English guide. But when we take on the boat, other tour group which is Japanese guide is coming. It is okay, no problem. But, English guidance and Japanese guidance are little bit different. I don’t know why. I felt Japanese tourists need to pay more money... one more thing, My attending day was raining. We couldn’t know we can take a boat or not. If the weather was bad whole day, we have to go back the city. If it is so, they should have announced before starting the tour. Otherwise we would lose half day. Our guide who is Mr. Vietnam, he was good guy. Thank you for his guide and care of us.
