What people are saying about Porto

Very interesting and enjoyable trip but mainly by road, not boat.

From the booking confirmation the pick-up time from our hotel was not clear and we tried to call in the morning but did not get any reply or voicemail option. When the minibus arrived to pick us up we assumed it would take us to the river in Porto to start the cruise but after driving for 40 minutes out of town, I asked for the itinerary and we were told that the nine hour day trip was by mini-bus, with a one hour cruise on the Douro River. Our driver was very considerate and helpful and we enjoyed the things we did; a visit to a port wine cellar, lunch of typical food and wine at a local restaurant in Pinhao, and a visit to a winery where they also pressed olives for the local growers. The scenery was stunning and the boat cruise on the Upper Douro very relaxing. The trip itself is excellent value but the organizers should spell out more clearly in advance what the day comprises of.

Unbelievably good! Highlight of our trip to Portugal.

This was by far the best tour I've ever been on. Our guide, Claudio, was wonderful - so much fun and full of information, laughter, and recommendations. All of the stops were beyond our expectations—the olive oil & wine producer was fantastic and has one of the most incredible views of the Duoro Valley, and the wine was beautiful. Lunch was excellent, also exceeded our expectations, and the river cruise was breathtaking. I would definitely come back and do this tour all over again! Thank you Claudio! - Go Team Wolf!

Excellent tour, well organised, great experience and good tour guide

This was a great value and highly recommended tour. The scenery and the boat cruise were spectacular. The wine, olive oil and honey tasting very good, and meal was really lovely. The only thing I can think of to improve the experience would be for the driver/tour guide to have a microphone so that passengers in the rear of the van could hear the commentary. It was a big day out but very well paced.

We had a perfect day in the Douro Valley.

Our guide, Carla, was fun and friendly. She is a terrific driver. She took us to two wonderful wineries and to an excellent traditional lunch at a restaurant in the hills. The view was breathtaking. We enjoyed our peaceful hourlong boat ride. It was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. We highly recommend this tour.

If you only have one day to see the Douro valley this is how to do it.

Tito our guide should be complimented. He was excellent. He grew up in the region, knows Douro wine and has an excellent understanding of hospitality. He is ‘easy-going’, has very good English (and French) and is a fine host. He prepared a great itinerary for our first visit to the Douro Valley.
