What people are saying about Porto

Surf lesson was great, organisation could have been better!

We arrived to find the shop had no record of our booking or payment, luckily we were able join the lesson. The staff were great and sized us up for wetsuits. Our instructor was great, he gave us a quick warm up & safety briefing then got us practising jumping up on the board before we went in the water. It was a mixed group (language, ages & ability) but he did really well to look after everyone (especially us beginners) and give one-on-one instruction and encouragement, holding the board steady and telling us when to paddle so we could get a feel for it and build up a bit of confidence before we had a go on our own. The waves were pretty big but he took us down to the sea wall where it was calmest. It's worth noting the lessons are run out of a retail unit so facilities are basic, there's a small communal changing area with one tiny private(ish!) cubicle with a curtain across. There is a cold shower to rinse off on the beach and access to a toilet block.

Great exhibition and museum surrounded by the most beautiful nature.

Really enjoyed the exhibits (October 2018) of Kapoor and Mapplethorpe. The museum was not so busy, which is always nice. Lovely area of Porto, good little cafe. The park is fantastic, full of paths and walkways, and many places to sit and bathe in the nature. If the sun is out, it's only a few minutes bus ride from here to the wild Atlantic Coast at Foz, and then a coastal walk back to town (or a bus)

A good mixture of port houses and an excellent guide

We were taken around three port houses in the Gaia area from a large commercial supplier to a local smaller, Portuguese producer. Our guide George was very knowledgable and brought the whole region and history associated with port production to life. You may be able to find a more specialist tour but for my wife and I who just enjoy the occasional glass or bottle here and there, this was perfect.

A simple way to get a feel for the city.

The email and PDF says that the ticket must be printed and will not be accepted if not printed. Fortunately this was not true and it can be takes to the kiosk in the square. Perhaps it is time to remove that warning and make it clear that it does NOT need to be printed. Trees are safe ;-)

A very nice activity with a great tourguide.

We enjoyed the tour very much. We had many good ports wine. The tour gide was pleasant as well and he had a lot to tell us about the wine and the region. We had a great afternoon. So, I would recommend the tour to everyone!
