What people are saying about Porto

Great voyage of discovery of PORT on the Douro

We arrived at the boat to find our table had been allocated in a good forward position. Our waiter was very friendly and looked after us well. There was a lot of back ground noise so the overhead loud speaker announcements were difficult if not impossible to understand. The breakfast served was quite basic but lunch was more than enough. The trip was through beautiful scenery and was very interesting. We left the boat at Pinhao where we caught the tourist train back to Porto arriving at about 21.00hrs. Quite a long day, but worth it.

Great food, great service, great views, wanted commentary on nature

Everything was wonderful - food, service, views. Waiter was attentive and fun. Great experience with staff. Prices reasonable. Wanted more commentary on natural environment we passed, history of the area, the grapes, the wine and port making. Possibly a booklet at our tables to look at, eg birds, trees, etc. Best would be person doing the commentary, eg on the left you can see blue herons. Would have enjoyed more info at wine tasting. Most info was on bridges, we wanted more

It was a wonderful way to see the country from a different perspective. There are no guarantees that your group will mesh but ours did and we were able to make amazing new friends. One word of caution check your transportation, we had ours confirmed until the night before and then were told we were outside their boundary for pick up and ended up having to taxi. Then we were told that time for reimbursement would be 8-10 days. Just a heads up

The crew/service were friendly and very helpful. Please note that if your trip is facilitated by Barcadouro ( board in Gaia) then there is a boat change at Peso da Regua, no free time in Pinhao but a visit to a local Winery. Also the return is by bus which was quick and comfortable.
