What people are saying about Peniche
First of all it must be noted that all activities are subject to weather conditions, which unfortunately prevented us from kayaking/glass bottom boat cave tour. However, going to Berlengas grande is unmissable for any adventurous tourist to Portugal - an island unparalleled when it comes to combining both beauty and history. David (our tour leader) was prepared for everything - even when the van originally broke down, he still got us to the port on time and kept all spirits high! He was engaging and knowledgable beyond measure and also very amusing. He made sure to strike a balance between our safety and getting the most out of the trip.
The whole day was extremely well organized. Claudia sent us several emails to prepare. She arrived on time and showed our small group nice local places in Peniche. The boat trip was magic. Claudia guided us very well during walk in the island and visit to the castle. She managed cave tour as she organized calm wheather. At the end also short time for a jump into the ocean. Boat trip back was sunny and relaxing. Thanks for enthusiast driving Claudia dropped us in Lisbon having still a long evening ahead of us.
The day of our trip was so foggy we could barely see so I was pretty worried about the boat trip in such weather. Fortunately, everything went well; the boat is for about 20 people, nice trip both ways. Nuno - our guide was really informative and helpful, thanks to him I didn't crash kayak into a cave
The island is nice, but it takes a very long time to get there and back, you have to drive for over an hour, then take an hour boat ride, so it takes over 4 hours total travel time for just a few hours on the island.
Really friendly and helpful guides, everything was nicely organized. The island is absolitely beautiful, I would recommend it as a perfect daytrip from Lisbon
