What people are saying about Pena Palace
Our tour guide, Antonio, made our day trip to Sintra unforgettable! Born and raised in Sintra with an obvious love for his city, he was able to tell us so much about the area's rich history and it's current activities in a way that only locals can. He picked us up promptly at 9:00 am as scheduled, talked about the day's itinerary and asked for our opinions regarding where we wanted to spend most of our time and attention. For example, there was an event that closed the streets in one of the areas that we were supposed to visit, so he offered us some alternatives if we preferred to avoid the traffic. He took us along some back roads and off the beaten path spots that made us feel like we were locals. By the end of the tour, our group decided that this was one of the best days we spent during our whole 2 week vacation. He helped us fall in love with Sintra and we plan to visit this beautiful area again in the future! I would definitely recommend this tour!
Our family of five had the pleasure of spending the day with Tomas who picked us up in Lisbon for an all day tour of Sintra. My three sons ages 23, 22 and 19 especially loved the tour because Tomas was so easy to talk to and fun to be around. He gave us all great historical background of the area, took us too an delicious sandwich shop for lunch and showed us amazing vistas along the coast. I highly recommend this tour, but if it’s especially hot, or you don’t want to ride in a jeep without AC, take the van tour instead as it will be much more comfortable. We rode in the jeep which was great, but maybe not for older clients or if it’s super hot.
We were supposed to have a minivan for our tour of sites in and around Sintra. Instead we got a big 4x4. It meant we were 3 on a side and one in front. It was difficult to see out the sides and to hear our guide. Alex was our guide and he was really excellent. He has a degree in history so he gave us really good background on what we were seeing and help us to contextualize it within the larger scope of Portuguese history. He also made great suggestions on local specialties to taste. He was really engaging and fun to be with.
It is not convenient to visit Sintra by yourself because you waste too much time by train, bus and queues. This private tour spots all the important points, drops you and picks you up at the right places. If you visit Sintra, do not miss Quinta da Regaleira which is more beatuiful than Pena Palace.
Hugo was an excellent guide. He gave us a lot of info about the places that we visited. We had booked a private tour and it was absolutely worth it. I will highly recommend this tour. The tour covered all the beautiful and must see places near Lisbon.
