First of all, the tour visited a large producer (Moët) known as a ‘negotiant’ as they buy in most of their grapes from producers. Moët have very plush premises in Epernay and the tour was well-polished, finishing off with a sample of Moët Imperiale. The next stop was at a small producer and champagne maker, Julien Chopin. The sampling was far more generous with 3 Champagnes and a dessert wine. They served lunch too, which was plentiful and tasty. This was our favourite stop and the Champagne was very nice. Finally we went to a cooperative whose name escapes me. They have an emphasis of using Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunière grapes. We had 3 samples here, though a bit smaller in size than in the other two producers. Throughout the trip we were given lots of information about the Champagne making process, it was fascinating. The driver and guide for the day was Julia and she was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, had a pleasant personality and spoke excellent English too.
What an incredible experience! Wow. We are so glad we ended up with this one! It was a very full day and truly nothing was left out. Our first stop was a Battery where we got to go inside the bunkers and learn about battle area there. There are still in tact cannons from DDay inside some of the bunkers which was crazy to witness. We then went to Omaha Beach, and and got to spend some time walking the area after our guide shared the history there. Afterwards we went to Point Du Hoc where the US Rangers climbed the ocean cliffs in order to take control of that stronghold. It was surreal to see the ground covered in huge divots where ally bombs were dropped. We stopped for lunch at a local Creperie, then spent time at the DDay Memorial and Cemetery. We ended with cider tasting at a local cider farm which was incredible and such a unique experience! Olivia, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and personable and her English was perfect. It was an experience we will never forget!
Trip was awesome. Lots of champagne & Magda our guide was awesome. However if you have a food allergy - you’ll need to bring your own lunch. I told them twice (and they responded with noted with a food allergy) and food was still served that my guest couldn’t eat. This is extremely poor behaviour from the organiser (not magda) and could have resulted in something serious.
I highly recommend booking this experience! The wineries we went to were fantastic. Our driver was friendly, knowledgeable and made the day really fun. Lunch was fantastic and the champagne of course was phenomenal. Getting picked up in Paris was so convenient. Great value!
We splurged on this and I'm really glad that we did. Our tour guide (Anne) was fantastic! She really got on the kids' level and showed us some really neat parts of the museum. We all learned so much more than we would have on our own.
