What an incredible experience! Wow. We are so glad we ended up with this one! It was a very full day and truly nothing was left out. Our first stop was a Battery where we got to go inside the bunkers and learn about battle area there. There are still in tact cannons from DDay inside some of the bunkers which was crazy to witness. We then went to Omaha Beach, and and got to spend some time walking the area after our guide shared the history there. Afterwards we went to Point Du Hoc where the US Rangers climbed the ocean cliffs in order to take control of that stronghold. It was surreal to see the ground covered in huge divots where ally bombs were dropped. We stopped for lunch at a local Creperie, then spent time at the DDay Memorial and Cemetery. We ended with cider tasting at a local cider farm which was incredible and such a unique experience! Olivia, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and personable and her English was perfect. It was an experience we will never forget!
Great tour with a wonderful and knowledgable guide. The day is very long but well worth it if you don't have your own transportation to get to the Normandy area. The bus was comfortable, and I'm assuming for safety reasons, they switched drivers half way through the trip, loved this! Thank you for a wonderful day and the education to boot!!
While the tour shows some amazing sites, the day is very rushed with little time at significant sites, and long stretches of driving in between. While the tour guides are great on the bus, there is little insight given once at the sites; and the “dinner” stop on the way home is a 30 minute break at a gas station.
The trip was great & the US cemetery was impressive. The only only downside to the trip was that the guide had such a heavy French accent that it was hard to understand at times. She was very nice & for what we could understand, she was very knowledgeable.
Fred was a fantastic guide and patiently answered all our questions, which stretched the tour for nearly an hour longer than planned. He is well-informed, witty and engaging. We learned a lot about the cemetery, French history and many other topics.
