Full description
Naoshima Island, referred to as Art Island, is a small island bursting with culture located in the Seto Inland Sea. The museums are designed to fit into the natural context; galleries and outdoor artworks are scattered all over the island, making the island itself into a huge art space.

Begin the tour with a ferry ride from Uno Ferry Port. The world-famous Yayoi Kusama's pumpkin will welcome you at the Miyanoura port. Grab your rental bicycle or hop on the bus and begin your tour of the island. Take the chance to visit Chichu Museum, Lee Ufan Museum, and Benesse House Museum.

The Chichu Art Museum was constructed in 2004 as a site that rethinks the relationship between nature and people. The Lee Ufan Museum is the product of a collaboration between internationally-acclaimed artist Lee Ufan and architect Tadao Ando.

Enter the Benesse House Museum which opened in 1992 as a facility integrating a museum with a hotel. Designed by Tadao Ando, the facility is built on high ground overlooking the Seto Inland Sea and features large apertures which open up the interior to the splendid natural surroundings.

Stay the night at a hotel in Naoshima where you're free to explore around the hotel and have dinner by yourself. Get tips from your guide on where is best to eat.

On Day 2, after having breakfast at the hotel, you will meet the guide at the hotel lobby, then start the day. In the morning, you will visit the Ando Museum and Art House Project.

The Ando Museum is a traditional wooden house in Honmaru around 100 years old. Here you can learn about Tadao Ando's work and Naoshima history. Move on to The Art House Project in Naoshima's Honmura district. Here you'll discover how artists take empty houses and turn them into works of art.

You will have free time for lunch and see more arts around the area. After 2 days full of art, take the ferry back to Uno Ferry Port and then back to Shin-Osaka station.
